Includes a presentation of Advanced Driving techniques, vehicle familiarity, fatigued driving, and safe vehicle handling. Developmental exercises prepare participants for the final written multiple choice test.

CTEC's Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC) is an approved Alberta Transportation Demerit Reducing Course.
Demerit Point Reduction: Successful students receive a certificate for a reduction of up to 3 demerit points, to be used over two years.
Classroom Presentation:

CLASSROOM
A comprehensive presentation on the Hours of Service legislation as is needed for your operations. Courses on the Federal Hours of Service are full-day and Provincial Hours of Service courses are half-day. Participants will complete practical exercises making log book entries.

Instructor lead presentations, review of legislation, log books, pre-trip and post-trip, driving fatigue, and safe driving behaviours.

Log Book Review: Each participant is provided real log book sheets to complete.
Once with step by step instruction and discussion, and again on their own using pre-decided scenarios.
Vehicle Inspection: Participants complete pre-trip inspection reports, including (if required) Air Brakes.
ExceleRATE Screening:
Part One: In-Office VITALS Screening
· Computerized assessment of the critical cognitive skills needed to drive safely.
Part Two: Commercial On-Road Evaluation
· A behind-the-wheel assessment, specifically designed to break down which driving errors are caused by cognitive issues and which are the result of bad habits.
Individual Skills Assessment:
Option One: Driver Risk Assessment
· Instructor accompanies driver on a pre-trip inspection, and a specific route.
· Using a standardized form, the instructor evaluates driver actions and calculates driver risk based on driver behaviours.
Option Two: One-on-One Training
· Instructor accompanies driver on a pre-trip inspection, and a specific route, evaluating the driver behaviours using a standardized form.
· Following the initial assessment, the instructor reviews the driver behaviours and trains them to avoid their common driver errors.
· The participant then continues on the road, to attempt to correct any errors, while the instructor evaluates them a second time.
A final report, and copy of the assessment can be provided to management, if required
